It is official: Milwaukee Bucks superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is the 2019-20 NBA Defensive Player of the Year with the “Greek Freak” edging Los Angeles Lakers All-Star big man Anthony Davis en route to claiming such an honor on Tuesday evening in Orlando.
With Antetokounmpo joined by his Bucks teammates and head coach Mike Budenholzer upon receiving the award live on TNT, things then got weird in a hurry as Shaquille O’Neal joined in on the fun.
While the Hall of Famer and legendary NBA center attempted to congratulate Antetokounmpo in his native Greek, things did not go as expected for Shaq. It is safe to say that Antetokounmpo was quite confused as his face pretty much tells the whole story here (via Bleacher Report).

After becoming the NBA MVP just a season ago, Antetokounmpo has now followed up a stellar performance with perhaps an even better one this time around as Giannis may very well win the league’s MVP award in 2019-20 as well. With Antetokounmpo officially the 2019-20 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, he earned 432 total points as a result of the voting with the aforementioned Davis coming in second place with an even 200 points.
Antetokounmpo and the top-seeded Bucks currently hold a 3-1 series lead over the eighth-seeded Orlando Magic as Milwaukee is expected by many to eventually come out of the Eastern Conference come the NBA Finals. With the Bucks serving as one of the top teams in the entire NBA all season long, it remains to be seen as to whether Antetokounmpo can finish things off this year or not.
