Congratulations - The SandPaper

To the Editor:

Congratulations to MATES graduate Nicholas Guerriero of Surf City! He was named the Garden Club of LBI’s scholarship recipient for 2023. Nicholas will attend Stockton University in the accelerated dual degree program in environmental science. He is a native of Surf City, as is his mother.

For the summer, Nicholas is working at the Barnegat Oyster Collective, Bayview Marina, leading eco kayak tours, and as a paid intern with ReClam the Bay and Save Barnegat Bay.

The Garden Club scholarship is renewable each year the student is in school with a  major in environmental or horticultural science. Sarah Neil of Manahawkin is the garden club’s 2022 recipient, and is continuing her studies at the College of New Jersey.

College scholarships are part of the club’s commitment to services for seniors and students, for tree planting, maintenance of public gardens, environmental and ecological projects, and the love of gardening and all its facets.
