Jason Kidd was among those who were linked to the Brooklyn Nets’ head coaching position after the team parted ways with Kenny Atkinson in March until Thursday when the franchise announced Steve Nash as the new head coach.

The Nets legend was happy for his fellow Hall of Fame point guard, wishing Nash well on Twitter:

Congratulations to my friend @SteveNash on becoming the new head coach of the @BrooklynNets. Wishing you and the Nets franchise all the best!

Nash joins the Nets after having been a player development consultant for the Golden State Warriors for the past five years — so Steve Kerr has an idea of what the legendary point guard is capable of. Like Kidd, the Warriors head coach was happy for Nash, tweeting:

Congratulations to @SteveNash and thank you for all your work over the years with the @warriors. You are going to crush it in Brooklyn!

According to Brian Lewis of the New York Post, Warriors general manager Bob Myers is also thrilled for Nash:

I’m thrilled for Steve and I think he’ll do a terrific job with the Nets. His Hall of Fame background as a player and the respect and admiration that he has earned over the years in NBA circles will serve him well in this new position.
