This is a mighty big “thank you” to all graduates of the Class of 2021 who reached the goal of completing this journey.
It’s been a difficult year for many and it is hopeful that you learned what is necessary to transition into your next stop in your destiny. Life was difficult, yes, but we celebrate because “you did it.”
A part of a quote by Steve Jobs says: “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So, you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.”
During the coronavirus pandemic, you made history and you did so with resilience, determination, motivation, and a desire to beat the odds.
Certainly, it was not a comfortable place to be, but so many of you used your creativity to make it work. While we strive to make effective this new normal, you will be given the credit because you have displayed, through your courage and determination, that you can’t connect the dots looking forward. You have proven that you did not lose a year of learning but, instead, learned to make the best of what was offered.
It’s wonderful that you have earned the diploma but don’t forget you did not walk this path alone.
Please, once again, thank your teachers and other staff members for assistance. It was certainly difficult now knowing who was providing academic instructions, and it was also challenging for teachers who did not have that eye-to-eye contact with many of you. Also thank your parents and caregivers whose lives were changed as a result of this discomfort. They gave what they could so that you could reach your destination.
Saving the best for last, give yourself a pat on the back. You had to experience, without a warning, a new way of receiving academic success. Without being in your private space, it is hard to imagine that some days you laughed while other days you cried. Even with the disappointments of not seeing your friends and classmates, you continued to climb that ladder of success and you endured. To that we could not be more proud.
Society encourages you to move forward and pursue your passion and your dreams. You have already demonstrated your abilities, so please continue down this successful road.
Congratulations, again, Class of 2021!
