Last night the Los Angeles ended their season (as well as the Miami Heat’s) in a monster of a game that earned the franchise their seventeenth NBA title. Congratulations go out to all the players, coaching staff, trainers and other staff, as well as their fans. For Anthony Davis, he won his first ring, as did Dwight Howard. Danny Green, JaVale McGee, and Rajon Rondo have all been on this side before, but they looked just as excited as if it was their first.
For LeBron James, this was also not his first rodeo, but each time he shows the emotion and excitement of getting to the finish line. He also includes everyone and shares the stage with poise and grace.
On the court, no one plays better than LeBron James. He is the best player of his generation. And when compared to previous generations, one thing is for sure — each successive generation gets more competitive. The rules tighten, the skills levels expand, more players grow up dreaming, and the competition starts younger.
Fittingly, LeBron James earned the Finals MVP trophy, the first player in NBA history to do so with three different teams, making him the greatest journeyman of all time.
And off the court, he speaks with eloquence and passion.
When asked by Rachel Nichols if this was the “longest prime in the history of professional sports?” LeBron answered “I don’t know, I’m gonna let you guys talk about it.” What failed to be mentioned was that his prime is still in full effect and will continue into future seasons.
LeBron is pragmatic and forthright when he speaks, and for that, he deserves the last word today:
