Congratulations Class of 2021 | College of Pharmacy - UT Austin - College of Pharmacy

The Class of 2021 student pharmacists of the College of Pharmacy were able to celebrate their accomplishment with a mixture of in-person and virtual events on May 21, 2021. The graduates walked the stage of Bass Concert Hall for their Graduate Recognition Moments with family and friends in attendance cycling in and out of the space.

Graduates were greeted by faculty, staff, friends, well-wishers and family members in the large event tent in front of Bass.

The event was introduced by Dean Samuel M. Poloyac, and included remarks from Class of 2021 President Hannah Adair, along with a reading of the Oath of a Pharmacist by Assistant Dean for Experiential and Professional Affairs Jennifer L. Ridings-Myhra.

The Graduate Recognition Moments was immediately followed by a Post-GRM Celebration at the Pharmacy Building, where everyone could come by the plaza for goodies, food and coffee.

Congratulations to the College of Pharmacy Class of 2021. The college knows you’ll go on to do tremendous things and truly change the world.

College of Pharmacy 2021 Class Officers

President

Hannah Adair – Hannah served as president of Pharmacy Council and student class representative. She also served as treasurer and fundraising chair for the Student College of Clinical Pharmacy. These efforts led to multiple awards and academic recognitions. In addition, Hannah served as an advanced academic assistant for the college’s Foundations of Professional Development courses and participated in the Professionalism Taskforce and pharmacist-led HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) clinic at UT’s 40 Acres Pharmacy. She also participated in experiential research in the lab of Dr. Feng Zhang. 

Vice President

Adam Burkhard – In addition to earning one of the highest grade point averages (GPAs) in the 2021 University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy graduating Pharm.D. class, Adam was president of The University of Texas at Austin Student Chapter of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and vice president of the Texas Coalition of Student Pharmacists. He was also the director of marketing for the UT Student Industry Pharmacists Association and treasurer of the UT Chapter of the Phi Lambda Sigma international pharmacy leadership society. Adam also founded and served as chair of the UT Austin Student Health Interprofessional Education Committee and was part of the National Student Network Advisory Committee for the American College of Clinical Pharmacy. As part of the Honor’s Program, Adam participated in research to determine the association between severity of multiple sclerosis disease and adherence to disease modifying therapies that resulted in one manuscript currently under review at a high impact journal with Adam as first author. He participated in the Lester Entrepreneurial Scholars Program and participated in a competitive internship at Mercer Managed Pharmacy Practice in Houston where he successfully created a business case to develop a tool to automate formulary disruption projections and trained and mentored new analysts to use the model.

Secretary/Treasurer

Johnny Ray Alexander III – Johnny served as president of The University of Texas at Austin Chapter of the National Community Pharmacists Association, the Policy and Advocacy Committee of the UT Chapter of the American Pharmacists Association and the Pharmacotherapy Curriculum Subcommittee. He also participated in a focused research project where he developed a novel formulation for acetaminophen in tablet form. This work was published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal. Johnny also participated in a project studying interprofessional collaborative education programs between colleges of pharmacy and schools of traditional Chinese medicine.
