While the action and outcome on the ice for Patrick Kane’s 1,000th career NHL game was pretty lackluster, there was plenty of celebrating to do off the ice. Patrick Kane was honored by his teammates prior to the game and by the Dallas Stars during the first break in the first period.

I mean, it’s not as fun to have to honor a player on the road, so I appreciate the Stars’ effort. An away game standing ovation for Kane:

How’s about a Marian Hossa sighting? The Blackhawks legend and a fellow 1,000-gamer congratulated Kane on reaching the milestone and helping get the monkey off his back in 2010.

And there were many, many more. The outpouring for Kane was a lot of fun to watch on a night where the action on the ice was less than fun. Let’s hope game No. 1,001 is a lot better.
