Congrats to Bipul Sinha, Arvind (Nitro) Nithrakashyap and the entire Rubrik team on today’s IPO.

Since we first partnered with Rubrik in early 2015, they have grown from a small unknown pre-revenue startup in a tiny office in Palo Alto, to a market-leader in cyber resilience, with more than 6,100 customers, $784m subscription ARR as of January 31, 2024 (growth YoY of 47%), and 3,000 employees worldwide.

Rubrik sits at the intersection of powerful market megatrends across data, cybersecurity and AI. The company has transformed backup data into a strategic asset, with business indexed to the growth of business data. Customers rely on Rubrik to achieve cyber resilience in the face of cyberattacks, malicious insiders and operational disruptions. Architecture matters and Rubrik has a highly differentiated approach that incorporates time-series data and metadata, zero trust design and automation.

Bipul and I first met over a 7:30 am breakfast at Greylock, several years before he founded Rubrik. I was moved by his personal journey of perseverance and advancement from growing up poor in a small town in India to Silicon Valley. I was struck by his humility, optimism and determination regarding what he could potentially achieve ahead. It’s a privilege for us at Greylock to have been part of Rubrik’s journey since early 2015.
