Congratulations to the Rising Stars Class of 2021 - Vermont Biz

Vermont Business Magazine I want to welcome VBM readers to the 12th annual Rising Stars special section. The Rising Stars was established by Vermont Business Magazine in 2010 to highlight the accomplishments and contributions made by our young people in Vermont.

Including the Class of 2021, we have honored 481 individuals over the past twelve years who are committed to business growth, professional excellence and involvement in their communities.

Below is a synopsis of each of the Rising Stars Class of 2021. These write-ups contain their career and community highlights. We asked them each a few questions, such as, Where is your favorite Vermont escape (our lakes and mountains received the most comments), Person you would most like to share a Vermont beverage with (family members, Senator Sanders and Aiken) and How has your community service changed since the pandemic, (more virtual volunteering).

Because of this once in 100-year pandemic, many of our honorees faced challenges both professionally, and in their communities, but they rose above these challenges. This is just a sampling of questions and answers, so please read each synopsis to learn more.

The judges, listed below, put in countless hours reading the nominations, resumes and community service documentation before meeting to pick the top 40. I want to thank the judges for the time they took to review all the applications and to come up with this final list.

Of the 40 honorees, there are 24 women and 16 men. There are 15 from Chittenden County, 7 from Windham County, 6 from Washington County, 4 from Rutland County, 3 from Addison County, 2 from Bennington County, 1 from Caledonia County, 1 from Orange County and 1 from Orleans County. The average age of the honorees is 33 years old. The oldest is 39 and the youngest is 24 years old.

We cannot forget to thank the great companies that our Rising Stars work at. Because of these companies, our Rising Stars are given the opportunity to participate in community activities and devote some of their time to their communities.

I would like to thank our sponsors, MVP Health Care, our dinner sponsor Junapr and the awards sponsor Vermont Awards & Engraving. Thank you all for supporting this special Rising Stars event.
