Tennis king Rafael Nadal receives congratulations from Spanish king - Tennis World USA

On Sunday, the Spanish king Felipe VI was on Court Philippe-Chatrier, watching the most outstanding Spanish athlete of all time Rafael Nadal in action at his beloved Roland Garros. Rafa fought in his 14th Roland Garros final against Caser Ruud and delivered a 6-3, 6-3, 6-0 triumph for his 22nd Major crown.

Rafa is yet to lose a match in the Roland Garros finals, and he has won an outstanding 112 out of 115 encounters at the clay Major. Thus, Nadal has conquered the Australian Open and Roland Garros for the first time in the same season, moving two Majors away from his closest rivals, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

King Filipe VI congratulated Rafa after the match, feeling proud about his countryman's achievements. Nadal skipped the second part of the previous season due to a foot injury, and it was his main concern ahead of this year's Roland Garros.

Spanish king Felipe VI watched Rafael Nadal's title chase in Paris.

The king of clay struggled in Madrid and Rome, and there were many doubters about his chances in Paris. Like many times before, Rafa has proved them wrong, playing with injections and surviving three tough challenges en route to the title.

Nadal toppled Felix Auger-Aliassime in the fourth round in five sets, raising his level in the decider and setting the quarter-final clash against Novak Djokovic. The defending champion gave his best to stop Nadal, leading 5-2 in the fourth set and creating two set points on serve at 5-3.

Rafa endured all the efforts and scored a massive 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 triumph in four hours and 12 minutes to advance into the semis. Alexander Zverev was ready to challenge him under a roof on Court Philippe-Chatrier, and they pushed each other to the limits for over three hours.

After two marathon sets, Nadal led 7-6, 6-6 before Alexander experienced an ankle injury that ruined his campaign and forced him to retire and propel Rafa into the final. With the first-time Major finalist Casper Ruud on the other side of the net, Nadal was a clear favorite to lift the 14th Roland Garros title.

The Norwegian tried his best in sets one and two, but his backhand and serve could not match the rival's pace. Nadal opened two sets to love advantage and stormed over the opponent in the decider to deliver a bagel and wrap up his 22nd Major title.
