Pittston — Karen Orzello was a reader of the Times Leader “as far as I can remember”.
On Friday, she also became the 22nd weekly $ 1,000 winner of the paper TLCares cash present program launched in May.
Orzello says he always starts at the top page and reads the treatise, and I’ve read about the program, but I didn’t expect to be a winner.
“Oh, I couldn’t believe it,” Orzello said. “I was very surprised and happy.”
But she was probably even more excited to be able to designate the Women’s Resource Center as her chosen charity.
Under the TL Cares program, weekly winners will receive $ 1,000 plus a $ 1,000 donation to a nonprofit or charity selected by the Times Leader.
Orzello believes in the work done by the WRC and recently donated clothing to the organization.
“That’s important to me,” she said.
As a personal note, Orzello and her husband Richard celebrated their 50th anniversary in July. She is a proud mother of two children and four grandchildren, the latest of which entered the world on October 8.
Orzello didn’t hesitate when asked what she would spend $ 1,000 on.
