Morocco on Saturday made history as the first African team to reach the Fifa World Cup semi-finals.
The Atlas Lions, considered the underdogs against a much-fancied Portugal side won the game by 1-0.
The history win received praise and was seen as a beacon of hope for African even before the start of the match.
Kenyan leaders and global celebrities joined in the celebration and congratulated the team shortly after their win.
"This time for Africa!!" musician Shakira tweeted.
The musician did the 2010 official Fifa World Cup song which contained the lyrics in the tweet.
"Simply Fantastic!!! History's been written by the Atlas Lions of Morocco, our continent's first-ever team to reach the World Cup semi-finals. That was an excellent show by them of technical football and skills," ODM leader Raila Odinga said in a tweet.
His party also jumped on the bandwagon and loaded the Atlas Lions with praise.
"The Atlas Lions have roared. They have done it much louder than the Indomitable Lions did in Italy in 1990 when the became the first team from Africa to reach quarter finals of the FIFA World Cup. Congratulations Morocco for breaking the glass ceiling. Africa is proud of you."
"What an effort! Congratulations Morocco!" Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna said.
"We're almost getting there lads! Congratulations Morocco for a superb game!! Africa! We can do it! #FIFAWorldCup," former Tourism CS Najib Balala tweeted.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula said, The African way!! Kudos Morocco! #MORPOR."
"Congratulations to Morocco for reaching the world cup semi-finals and being the first African team to achieve that feat. This was a well-deserved victory. The Atlas Lions have made Africa proud," Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi tweeted.
"Dua MAGBUUL....#Morocco," lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi said.
Twitter owner and CEO Elon Musk was also one of the global personalities who made his sentiments known following the historic win.
