Arsenal send message of congratulations to Ben White after England bow

Premier League giants Arsenal have taken to the club’s social media platforms on Sunday, to send a message to defender Ben White.

White, of course, saw his name take centre stage in the headlines last night.

This came as the former Leeds standout, just days on from being called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the first time, was afforded his maiden starting berth for the Three Lions.

After John Stones was forced to succumb to a fitness issue during the warm-up for the nation’s friendly meeting with Switzerland, White was thrown in at the deep end, as part of an unfamiliar central defensive unit also featuring Wolves’ Conor Coady and Crystal Palace talent Marc Guehi.

The 24-year-old, of course in the midst of a fine debut campaign with Arsenal, subsequently went on to see out the full 90 minutes at Wembley, impressing in an inverted right-back role over the course of the 2nd-half.

In turn, as alluded to above, White’s club have this evening been quick to send a message of congratulations to their star stopper.

In a post across the club’s social media platforms, the Gunners highlighted an image of White’s heat map on Saturday, accompanied by the simple caption:

‘Well played’

England, when all was said and done at Wembley on Saturday, of course got the better of Switzerland courtesy of a 2-1 triumph.

After Breel Embolo handed the visitors the lead courtesy of a fine header midway through the first-half of action, Luke Shaw drew the Three Lions level with a powerful drive from the edge of the area on the stroke of the interval:

And the turnaround was complete a little over ten minutes from time, as Harry Kane stepped up to slot home from the penalty spot, in the process drawing level with Bobby Charlton as the 2nd-highest goalscorer in the history of the English national team:
