If you've lived in the area for any length of time, chances are good that you've come up with a list of favorite businesses — restaurants, furniture stores, doctors, lawyers.
That's where the Outlook/Sandy Post Readers' Choice Awards come into play.
Each year this is your choice to cast a vote for your preferred bakery or auto mechanic. The popularity of this polling produces thousands of responses from our readers in more than 100 categories.
In December, we sent out ballots in two forms — print and online — to our readers, asking them to select their favorite businesses, volunteers and individuals in the community. This special section is the culmination of that polling.
A complete listing of all the first-place winners in each category begins on Page 22. Also, our reporting staff has written individual stories on 25 of the winners. Our advertising staff also reached out to the winners, giving them an added opportunity to showcase their bragging rights and to thank the community for the vote of confidence.
These winning businesses and organizations represent communities throughout East Multnomah County, as well as the Sandy and Boring communities.
We encourage you to hold on to this special section as a purchasing guide, and also as a way of getting to know some of these businesses that maybe you haven't had the opportunity to patronize in the past.
We are grateful to all of our readers, who took the time to thoughtfully fill out their ballots and to cast their votes. We couldn't produce this list of winners without the readers' involvement.
Three of our readers are especially glad that they turned in ballots. We randomly select three people who submit ballots for three cash prizes. The winners in the 2021 Readers' Choice prize drawing are Mason Hamilton ($250), Cara White ($200) and Danielle Wolfe ($100).
If your favorite restaurant or service club wasn't chosen as a 2021 winner, just remember there's always next year.
