Raheem Morris has a second Super Bowl ring, helping to guide the Los Angeles Rams to the title as the defensive coordinator during the 2021 season. But not too long ago, he shared a similar fate as Scott Frost.
During the 2020 season, Morris was the interim head coach of the Atlanta Falcons after succeeding Dan Quinn. Though Morris had a shot to land the full-time job, the Falcons went elsewhere after Morris posted a 4-7 record leading the team.
On Thursday, Morris addressed preparing to face the Falcons on the opposite side of the field and revealed he contacted Frost after he was fired by Nebraska. Morris also said he congratulated Frost for his “welcome to coaching” moment.

Here’s how Morris explained it:
“Got a chance to call Scott Frost this week and let him know: Congratulations, welcome to coaching. You finally got fired? It is what it is,” explained Mooris. “Now you’re ready to move forward do what you do best, and that’s overcome, move forward, just like us after this Buffalo game.
“In this business, whether you play the game or you coach the game – gunfighters get shot. If you get in enough gunfights, you’re bound to get shot.”
Believe it or not, Frost and Morris had their paths cross multiple times during Morris’ time as a coach. During the 2003 NFL season, Frost was a defensive back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with Morris a defensive assistant for the team that season.
In 2006, Frost was a graduate assistant at Kansas State during Morris’ lone season as DC for the program.
We’ll see where Frost winds up next, and if Morris’ message has a lasting impact on the coach.
